Las Piñas Congressman-Elect Mark Anthony Santos Didn’t Plan To Contest against the Villars
Mark Anthony Santos, the Las Piñas district congressman-elect, spoke on his congressional race with Senator Cynthia Santos.
The Villars have long held positions in Las Piñas. Before becoming a senator, Sen. Cynthia Villar has held the post of Las Piñas district representative. This 2025 Elections, she attempted to switch positions with her daughter, incumbent Las Piñas district Rep. Camille Villar.

Las Piñas district Rep. Camille Villar ran for senator and she’s endorsed by both President Bongbong Marcos and Vice Pres. Sara Duterte. She was one of the senatorial bets of the Alyansa Para Sa Pagbabago which was backed by the Marcos administration.
Villar is one of the presumptive senators placing 10th in the partial and unofficial results with 13,360,444 votes. Currently, 97.37% of the election returns have been transmitted. The counting of votes in the senatorial election continue while most of the winners of the local elections have already been proclaimed.

In Las Piñas, an incumbent city councilor, Mark Anthony Santos, defeated Sen. Cynthia Villar in the congressional race, thus, there will be no exchange of positions among the Villars. Santos was already proclaimed.

Incumbent city councilor Mark Anthony Santos got 108,206 votes while Sen. Cynthia Villar got only 78,526 votes in the 2025 Election for Las Piñas district representative. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, he stressed that he never thought of going against the Villars in an election.
“Not in my wildest dream talaga na tumakbo and to fight against a well-entrenched family in Las Piñas,” he said.
The Villar family has occupied the congressional post in the district of Las Piñas since 1992. Congressman-elect Mark Anthony Santos recognized the financial standing of the family.
“If you can imagine pinakamayaman, number 1 sa Forbes list… It’s a historical record sa Las Piñas, since 1992 nasa Villar ang mga congress representatives namin dito,” the Las Piñas congressman-elect said.
Based on the report, Santos is a long-time councilor in Las Piñas and an ally of the Aguilars who are also related to the Villars. He stressed that he remained grounded and gave in to the public clamor for change.
Despite losing in the congressional race, Sen. Cynthia Villar vowed to continue serving Las Piñas. Congressman-elect Mark Anthony Santos also extended his hand to the Villars and expressed his hope that they will continue to help the district.
