Bong Revilla to join the general population at QC Jail

Bong Revilla is joining the general population at the Quezon City Jail after his arrest due to alleged involvement in the flood control mess.

Movie actor and former senator Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr. was previously acquitted of plunder. He was accused of pocketing PHP 224 million in kickbacks from fake projects with the help of businesswoman Janet Lim Napoles.

Eight years later, the former senator is facing graft charges again with malversation related to the flood control scandal. Revilla surrendered to the authorities, and the former senator was detained at the New Quezon City Jail in Payatas.

After several weeks of staying there, he will be transferred to the general population of the New Quezon City Jail Male Dormitory. This was exactly a week after he was committed to the facility, completing the mandatory seven-day medical quarantine required for newly admitted PDLs.

According to the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology, he will be sharing a cell with six other persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) who are not linked to the charges involving the alleged anomalous flood control project in Bulacan.

To recall, the Sandiganbayan released arrest warrants against Revilla and the following officials of the Department of Public Works and Highways:

  • former DPWH Bulacan First District Engineering Office (DEO) assistant district engineer Brice Hernandez
  • former DPWH Bulacan First DEO Engr. Jaypee Mendoza
  • former DPWH Bulacan First DEO Engr. Arjay Domasig
  • former DPWH Bulacan First DEO Engr. Emelita Juat
  • former DPWH Bulacan First DEO finance section chief Juanito Mendoza, at
  • DPWH Bulacan First District Engineering Office cashier Christina Pineda

“Naghihigpit tayo hindi dahil sa VIP treatment kundi dahil sa nature ng case, high profile at kailangan din walang mangyari o sinisiguro natin walang mangyari sa lahat habang nasa custody ng BJMP,” Jail Superintendent Jayrex Bustinera, BJMP spokesperson said.
