This is what Senator Risa Hontiveros said about running for president.
With some issues within the opposition still unclear, Senator Risa Hontiveros said she is open to running for president under this condition.
Senator Risa Hontiveros for president? We are a couple of years away from 2028, the election year in the Philippines, and one of the politicians being pressed to run for president is Senator Risa Hontiveros.

On Monday, she said it remains unclear whether the opposition will need to align with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s camp to challenge Vice President Sara Duterte in the 2028 presidential elections. This matter accordingly requires talking and thinking among them.
“Not just the kakampinks, not just opposition, all opposition, oppositional reform mandate, modernizing forces to come together and present the best offer we can make to citizens and voters really for changes in our system,” Hontiveros added.
Is she open to running? Hontiveros expressed that she is open only if the bloc picks her as standard bearer. She said this during the Foreign Correspondents Association of the Philippines forum.
As per her words, the opposition is fighting hard to unite because it is only with unity that they will stand a chance. The ones who will be part of the united opposition will be those with shared values. They will not partner with just any group solely for political purposes.
“Enough shared values. We have to be at the heart of that. There can’t be nothing there. Enough shared values and there will possibly be a measure of pragmatism too. And that’s what’s also under discussion,” she said.
In the meantime, much work still needs to be done in the Senate, and many developments are expected over the next two years.
