Police are probing the suspected murder of a girl found stuffed inside a plastic drum and dumped from a bridge in Antipolo City.
Officers said street vendors were passing through the area next to a major highway when they discovered the suspicious plastic container in Rizal province on January 22.
Locals looked inside only to discover a corpse wrapped in plastic and crammed in the green barrel. Police officers in Antipolo City recovered the body along the busy Marcos Highway at around 1:30 pm local time.
Footage shows forensics personnel collecting the girl’s body as the scene was cordoned off.
Authorities later identified the deceased as Rhanna Ayesha Baluyot, 15, who was last seen at a local basketball court on January 19.
She was reportedly wearing a pair of denim shorts, a white shirt, and had waist-length hair. She had a spider tattoo on her tummy and a snake tattoo on her thigh.
Police Lieutenant Ken Ada-ol said: “So this body was found within Boso Boso area, when some children were selling goods down the road.”
‘They noticed a small drum and thought there were scrap materials inside. When they opened it, a human foot emerged. They rushed to the nearest police precinct, and after that, our patrol officers arrived.”
“Her sibling was with her at the Penafranca basketball court, where she was last seen. As of now, we are waiting for the result of the autopsy to determine the cause of death. the victim. At the same time, we are conducting an investigation.”
Officers said a man and a woman riding a motorcycle had collected Ayesha from the basketball court before she was reported missing. They did not clarify what her relationship was to the pair.
Ayesha’s sister, Maria, said: “We want justice for my sister. The last thing she mentioned to us was that she only needed her boyfriend and nothing else.”
Police said those responsible remain at large and urged anyone with information to come forward.
In June 2023, the body of a woman murdered and dismembered by her boyfriend was discovered along the same highway.
