Sen. Bam Aquino Refuses To Bare Plans for 2028 Election
BAM AQUINO – The Senator clarified his distance from the talks about the 2028 Election saying he wants to focus to his work.
Undeniably, the recent announcement of Vice Pres. Sara Duterte that she will run for president in the 2028 Elections triggered the talks about the next national polls. Following the declaration of the Vice President, rumors about her possible running mate crossed the surface.
Opposition Sen. Bam Aquino was speculated to be the running mate of Vice Pres. Sara Duterte. Such rumors left countless supporters of the opposition confused. It did not only come after the Vice President’s announcement but also after the meeting of the members of the opposition.
Sen. Bam Aquino previously met with former Vice President and Naga Mayor Leni Robredo and senators Kiko Pangilinan and Risa Hontiveros among others. Former senator and now Mamamayang Liberal Party-list Representative Leila de Lima and Akbayan Party-list Rep. Chel Diokno were also present at their lunch meeting.
Meanwhile, amid the confusion of countless supporters of the opposition over the rumors, Sen. Bam Aquino clarified that he is not running for vice president in 2028. He had a short clarification but recently went a bit more detailed as he refused to talk about the next elections.
Based on a report on GMA News, Sen. Bam Aquino is taking a distance from the talks over the 2028 Elections as he wants to prioritize his work as a lawmaker. He stressed that he has just return to his Senate work and he wants to focus on legislative work that will benefit the education sector in the country.
“Nakakahiyang mamulitika kung napakaraming trabahong kailangan gawin. Ako personally, kakabalik ko pa lang sa Senate, ha? Isipin mo, wala pang one year. Ang nais talaga namin gawin, magtrabaho para sa bayan at palagay ko, ‘yun rin ‘yung hinahanap sa akin ng (taumbayan),” Aquino said.
Furthermore, based on the report, Sen. Bam Aquino also stressed that there is the right timing for politics. According to him, as for now, he wants to focus on his legislative work as it has not yet been a year since the recent polls were held.
“‘Yung pamumulitika, may tamang panahon ‘yan, and there will be a natural timing for that. Ngayong 2026, wala pang one year mula nung nakarang eleksyon, trabaho muna tayo,” the Senator added.
Previously, Sen. Bam Aquino spoke about the things that they talked about during his meeting with Naga Mayor Leni Robredo, Sen. Kiko Pangilinan, and other opposition members.
