What matters most accordingly is the safety of Filipino citizens in Iran and in the Middle East. The president said, “In the meantime, the safety of Filipino citizens in Iran and in the Middle East is paramount.”

He furthered that she already instructed the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) and the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) to determine the whereabouts of Filipinos in affected areas and to implement immediate measures to ensure their protection.

The DFA and DMW are set to work closely with Philippine embassies and consulates throughout the region to keep track of developments and extend necessary assistance to overseas Filipinos.

The directives from Marcos come amid the tensions in the Middle East. Recently, Iran confirmed that they have launched missile attacks in Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates, which host US military bases.

The PH president expressed:

“We have received reports of airstrikes which hit Iran. We are in the process of getting more information. In the meantime, the safety of Filipino citizens in Iran and in the Middle East is paramount. I have instructed the DFA and the DMW to take measures to determine their whereabouts in affected areas and to take immediate measures to ensure their safety.”

In a previous article, US President Donald Trump confirmed launching a major attack on Iran. He urged the Iranian citizens to “take over your government” and urged the Iranian forces to surrender. He said they acted only out of necessity to protect the American people from what he described as imminent threats posed by the Iranian regime.
