Netizen Criticized After Calling Out Street Cleaner Over Litter Issue
A male netizen drew mixed reactions online after he publicly criticized a street cleaner who reportedly reminded him about scattered trash.
A street cleaner is a person whose job is to keep roads, sidewalks, and public areas clean. They sweep streets, collect trash, remove leaves and dirt, and sometimes clean drains to prevent flooding.
Street cleaners may use simple tools like brooms and dustpans, or they may operate large street-sweeping machines. Their work helps prevent pollution, bad smells, and the spread of disease.

On Wednesday (March 4, 2026), a member of the Facebook group Bacolod Exposed 2.0, shared photos of a street cleaner who confronted him because of litter and cigarette butts left in the area. The post garnered various reactions from the online community.
According to his post, he felt offended by the reminder and questioned the worker’s duties. The man pointed out that street cleaners are paid through taxes and suggested that cleaning trash is part of their job.
He even questioned whether the worker was truly doing an eight-hour shift. His words were strong and emotional, which led many people to react.

However, not everyone agreed with him. Several online users defended the street cleaner, saying that keeping the surroundings clean is a shared responsibility. They explained that while street sweepers are assigned to maintain cleanliness, it does not mean people can simply throw trash anywhere.
Many reminded others that discipline starts with individuals properly disposing of their own waste.
