Vice Pres. Sara Duterte Faced with 2 Impeachment Complaints before the House
SARA DUTERTE – The Vice President reacted to the claim that her husband’s tax and business records may be issued a subpoena by the House of Representatives.
Two out of four impeachment complaints filed against Vice Pres. Duterte were found sufficient in form and in substance by the House Justice Committee. The panel set aside the first impeachment rap for violation of the one year rule ban.

With regards to the second impeachment complaint that was filed by Tindig Pilipinas, the complainants withdrew the complaint as they do not want procedural delays. Insted, the complainants supported the third impeachment rap that raised the following grounds:
- Alleged culpable violation of the Constitution and betrayal of public trust, and other high crimes in amassing and converting the amount over PHP 500 million confidential funds (CF) allocated to the Office of the Vice President from 2022 to 2023
- Alleged culpable violation of the Constitution and betrayal of public trust, and other high crimes in amassing and converting the amount of not less than PHP 112.5 million of confidential funds allocated to the Department of Education (DepEd) for the year 2023
- Alleged culpable violation of the Constitution and betrayal of public trust by corrupting and bribing officials of the DepEd
- Alleged culpable violation of the Constitution, betrayal of public trust, and other high crimes in contracting to murder or assassinate the president, the first lady, and the former speaker of the House
- Alleged culpable violation of the Constitution and betrayal of public trust in amassing unexplained wealth and failing to disclose all her properties and interests in properties in her SALN
- Alleged culpable violation of the Constitution and betrayal of public trust in committing acts of political destabilization and the high crimes of sedition and insurrection

Vice Pres. Duterte and her camp claimed that they have always expected the filing of impeachment raps against her. According to the Vice President, she has met her legal team even before the first impeachment complaint was filed before the House.
Duterte was given 10 days to respond to the impeachment complaints after the House found the two (2) impeachment raps sufficient in substance and form. The deadline was set on March 16, 2026.
Atty. Michael Poa, the spokesperson of the Vice President’s legal team, confirmed that Vice Pres. Sara Duterte has filed her answer to the impeachment complaints. They asked for the dismissal of the complaints citing that was allegedly no ultimate facts.

Recently, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte was asked about the claim of Bicol Saro Rep. Terry Ridon that a subpoena may be issued on the tax and business records of her husband, Atty. Manases Carpio. Based on News5, the Vice President called it supposedly an abuse of power and the bending of the law by some members of the House.
“Nakikita natin ngayon, ‘yung iilan sa members sa House of Representatives ay inaabuso ‘yung kanilang posisyon at kapangyarihan… Lumalabas na para silang law benders,” Duterte said based on the post.
Vice Pres. Sara Duterte recently visited Digos City in Davao del Sur where she’s called as the next president of the Philippines. Amid the impeachment complaints being hurled against her, Duterte declared her intention to run for the presidency in 2028.

Duterte even claimed that she has already recruited her running mate in the 2028 Elections. She also recently claimed that four (4) politicians have already reached out to her for her 2028 senatorial slate but she’s allergic of politicians now.
Recently, in her speech at an event in Davao City, former president and now Pampanga Representative Gloria Arroyo mentioned the declaration of Vice Pres. Sara Duterte to run for president in 2028.
