Pregnant PWD Woman Found Dead in South Cotabato
A pregnant PWD woman died in a suspected machete attack, she was found dead in a grassy area in South Cotabato.
The 34-year-old victim was already close to giving birth when the attack happened last Saturday in Barangay Puti, located in the town of Norala. According to initial findings, she had gone out earlier that day to gather coconut leaves from a nearby field.
The woman planned to turn these into brooms that she could sell to help support her family. When she failed to return home that evening, her child became worried and started looking for her.
The search ended in tragedy when she was discovered lying on the ground near a farm, covered in blood and already lifeless.
Authorities later confirmed through an examination that the victim suffered a deep and fatal wound caused by a sharp weapon. The injury was severe and led to her death. The unborn baby also did not survive, adding to the sorrow of the family.
Police are now actively investigating the case and have identified a person of interest. Efforts are ongoing to gather more evidence and build a case against the suspect. Officials are working to ensure that the one responsible will be held accountable.
During the wake, the family placed the lifeless baby beside the mother’s coffin, creating a painful scene that deeply moved those who came to pay their respects. The loss of both mother and child has left loved ones struggling to cope.
The victim’s family is now calling for justice, hoping that answers will come soon and that such a tragic act will not happen again.
