Taxi Driver Loses Vehicle to New Modus Operandi
A taxi driver reportedly fell victim to a new modus operandi used by thieves in Bacolod City, raising concern among drivers in the area.
Recently, Pebz Villaester, a Facebook user, asked for help online after a thief took his father’s taxi. The post quickly went viral on social media and garnered reactions from the online community.
The taxi driver reportedly lost his vehicle at around 7 in the evening near Plaza in Bacolod. According to his post, the stolen taxi is a Toyota Avanza operating under the name Prince Taxi with plate number GAE 2492.
Villaester said that a male passenger boarded the taxi and introduced himself as a police officer. He then asked the driver to take him to Police Station 1. When they arrived, the man reportedly requested the driver to call for his police friend inside the station.
Trusting the passenger, the driver stepped away from the taxi to do what was asked. But when he returned, the vehicle was already gone. The suspect had allegedly taken off with the taxi, leaving the driver shocked and helpless.
The driver’s cellphone and cash were still inside the vehicle when it was taken. It made the loss even heavier for the family, especially since the taxi is the father’s source of income.
The incident also reminded many people of a similar incident that reportedly happened near Capitol Lagoon in previous weeks, where another stolen taxi was later found abandoned in Barangay Mandalagan.
The family is urging anyone who may spot the taxi or have any useful information to immediately report it to the nearest police station.
