MMDA General Manager Nicolas Torre III Greets Former Pres. Rody Duterte on his 81st Birthday
NICOLAS TORRE III – The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) General Manager gave a birthday message for former President Rodrigo Roa Duterte.
The arrest and the transfer of the custody of former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte to the International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague, Netherlands marked the history of the Philippines. Undeniably, countless Filipinos did not expect it to happen last March 11. 2025.
Duterte was arrested by the Philippine authorities who assisted the International Criminal Police Organization or Interpol. According to Malacañang, the government allegedly acted on the arrest of the former President in lieu of its commitment with the Interpol.
One of the lead implementers of the arrest and the transfer of the custody of former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte is former Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Nicolas Torre III who previously told the public to direct their pity to the flood victims when he was removed from being the national police chief.
Torre was still with the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group or CIDG then when he led the arrest of the former President. He received massive criticisms most especially from the Duterte supporters.
Members of the Duterte family have also chided Torre several times. The issue even led to the then-PNP Chief setting up a charity boxing match against Davao Mayor Baste Duterte but the latter had conditions and did not appear at the ring.
Then-PNP Chief Nicolas Torre III was declared as winner by default of the said charity boxing match. He pledged the earnings from the match to the flood victims. Recently, as former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte turned 81, he is one of those who gave a message for the former Chief Executive.
Duterte remains detained under the custody of the ICC in The Hague for more than a year now. He is faced with three (3) counts of murder as alleged crimes against humanity filed by the ICC prosecution.
“Happy birthday former president Rodrigo Duterte, sir. Trabaho lang po tayo,” Torre said based on a report.
On the birthday of the former President, the Duterte family launched a website for former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte dedicated to his supporters.
