Sen. Imee Marcos Admits Regretting She Convinced VP Sara Duterte in 2022 To Join Vice Presidential Race
IMEE MARCOS – The Senator expressed her apologies to the Duterte family most especially Vice President Sara Duterte.
Amid the political turmoil in the Philippine government, the Filipino people witnessed how Sen. Marcos stood firm on the side of the Dutertes. She remains an opposition over the arrest and the transfer of the custody of former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte to the International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague, Netherlands.
Sen. Imee Marcos even urged the department of Pres. Bongbong Marcos to fully disclose all the details about the arrest of former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte. She is part of the so-called Duterte bloc in the Senate.
Following the arrest of former Pres. Duterte, the Senator left the Alyansa Para Sa Pagbabago, the senatorial slate of her brother, Pres. Bongbong Marcos. She campaigned independently and Vice Pres. Sara Duterte endorsed her.
Vice Pres. Sara Duterte previously claimed that it was really Sen. Marcos who is her friend. According to the Vice President, even former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte believes in the sincerity of the Senator in her friendship with the Vice President.
The younger Duterte has repeatedly claimed that the Senator will be the one to bring back her father to the Philippines. The former President remains detained under the custody of the foreign court for more than a year now.
Recently, as she recalled the teachings of her father, the late former Pres. Ferdinand Marcos Sr., Sen. Imee Marcos spoke about asking for forgiveness and forgiving. According to her, she needs to apologize to the Dutertes.
Sen. Imee Marcos stressed that she needs to apologize to Vice Pres. Sara Duterte the most. Through a video posted on social media, the Senator stressed that she’s really guilty for convincing VP Inday who was mayor of Davao then to run for the vice presidency.
“Hihingi rin siguro ako ng tawad dapat sa mga Duterte, higit sa lahat, sa VP natin, kay Inday Sara. Pinahamak ko siya eh. Talagang naiisip ko na gilting-guilty ako. Sana nananahimik sa Davao ‘yun, mayor siya, walang ka laban-laban,” the Senator said.
Furthermore, based on the post, Sen. Imee Marcos claimed that Vice Pres. Sara Duterte had no plans to run for a higher position in 2021. The Senator also expressed regrets on the fate of former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte.
“Si Presidente, si Tatay Digong, nandito sana sa piling natin. Ang dami kong pagsisisi,” Marcos said.
Sen. Imee Marcos also wants to apologize to her father, the late former Pres. Ferdinand Marcos Sr., over Pres. Bongbong Marcos. She previously claimed that Marcos Jr. is allegedly into illegal drug use.
