11-Year-Old Student Reports Alleged Abuse by Barangay Official in CamSur to President Marcos
An 11-year-old student has walked 14 kilometers to report the alleged abuse committed by a barangay kagawad in Camarines Sur.
A Grade 6 student from Caloco Elementary School in Tinambac, Camarines Sur chose to spend her graduation day in a different way. Instead of celebrating her achievement, she walked 14 kilometers to the Sangguniang Panlungsod office to report the alleged abuse.
The young girl, who graduated with honors, carried with her a petition signed by 201 residents. Her goal was to seek help and bring attention to the situation they have been facing in Barangay Caloco.

The victim also wrote an open letter addressed to President Bongbong Marcos, asking for protection and justice for her community.
In her letter, she shared the painful story of one of her companions from the Redeemer Homeless Mission, a group that supports homeless children and families. She revealed that her companion was allegedly abused twice by the son of the barangay official in separate incidents in 2022 and 2023 while on the way home from school.
The situation became even more alarming when she shared that after the first incident, the victim became pregnant. She claimed that the barangay kagawad allegedly took the child away and forced an abortion.

The same victim was reportedly abused again, this time by someone linked to the official, which caused her to stop attending school.
The girl also mentioned another case involving a different child in 2018. Aside from these, she said their community has been living in fear, with reports of threats, damaged property, and even basic services like electricity and water being cut off.
Despite her young age, the student bravely stood up and called for help. She expressed her simple wish to live safely and continue her education without fear.
As of this writing, the barangay official involved has not been publicly named. Authorities are expected to look into the matter.
