Martin Romualdez Shares Holy Week Message
MARTIN ROMUALDEZ – A timely reminder about humility and service was delivered by Martin Romualdez this Maundy Thursday.
Leyte 1st District Representative and former House Speaker Martin Romualdez shared a meaningful message of reflection and service in observance of Maundy Thursday on April 2, encouraging Filipinos to embrace humility and love for others during the Holy Week.
In a Facebook post, Romualdez called on the public to revisit the true essence of service and compassion, drawing inspiration from the biblical tradition of Jesus Christ washing the feet of His disciples. The act, widely commemorated during Maundy Thursday, symbolizes humility and selfless love—values that the lawmaker emphasized as essential in everyday life.

The congressman underscored that such acts of humility should not only be remembered but also practiced, especially during Holy Week—a time when sacrifice, faith, and concern for others are given deeper significance. He also highlighted the importance of reflecting on the meaning of the Last Supper, which serves as a cornerstone of Christian faith and devotion.
“Pagpalain nawa ang inyong pagninilay sa huling hapunan ng Panginoon,” he added.

Meanwhile, Romualdez’s name has previously surfaced in discussions surrounding alleged irregularities in flood control projects. However, reports noted that he was “abswelto” due to the absence of direct evidence linking him to the alleged anomaly.
In addition, former Ako Bicol party-list Representative Zaldy Co had earlier made claims involving budget-related kickbacks, mentioning Romualdez alongside his cousin, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.. Despite these allegations, no formal charges have been established against the Leyte lawmaker.
As Filipinos continue to observe Holy Week, Romualdez’s message serves as a reminder to embody faith through acts of kindness, humility, and genuine service to others.
