3 Airport Personnel Fired for Allegedly Robbing Australian Tourist at NAIA

Three airport personnel were removed from their posts over alleged theft of P7,000 from an Australian tourist at NAIA.

On Good Friday, April 3, 2026, three airport personnel were fired after being linked to the alleged theft of P7,000 from an Australian tourist at Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 3.

The incident started when the tourist noticed that his cash was missing while preparing for his trip to Cebu. He immediately reported the matter to airport police, prompting a quick investigation into the crime.

Initial findings pointed to the possible involvement of two airport screeners and their supervisor. Following this, the Office for Transportation Security acted swiftly and removed the three personnel from their positions while the investigation continues.

Officials said that the agency takes such incidents seriously, especially since they involve public trust and the safety of travelers. Airports are expected to be secure places, and any wrongdoing personnel can damage the confidence of both local and foreign passengers.

“We do not tolerate such acts within our organization. Any violation of trust or misconduct will be thoroughly investigated, and those found responsible will face appropriate consequences, both criminal and administrative punishments, if warranted,” OTS Administrator Undersecretary Gilbert Cruz said.

The theft also raised concern among travelers, as airports are often seen as tightly monitored spaces. Many people expressed hope that the case would be handled fairly and that those responsible would be held accountable if proven guilty.

Authorities are now conducting a deeper investigation to fully understand how the incident happened and to determine the responsibility of each person involved. Possible administrative and criminal charges may follow depending on the outcome.

As the investigation moves forward, officials continue to assure the public that steps are being taken to maintain safety and protect passengers at the airport.

The social media users expressed their reactions to the post
