Martin Romualdez Shares Message Of Hope Amid Darkness This Black Saturday
MARTIN ROMUALDEZ – A heartfelt reflection from Martin Romualdez is reminding Filipinos to hold on to faith even in uncertain times.
Leyte 1st District Representative and former House Speaker Martin Romualdez shared a meaningful reflection for Black Saturday, also known as Sabado de Gloria, offering a message of hope and faith during one of the most solemn days of Holy Week.
In a Facebook post dated April 4, Romualdez delivered a message titled “Sa Gitna ng Katahimikan at Paghihintay,” where he encouraged Filipinos to embrace the silence and anticipation that define the day. Black Saturday, observed during Holy Week, commemorates the time when the body of Jesus Christ had already been laid to rest, marking a period of mourning and quiet reflection for the faithful.

“Ang Sabado de Gloria ay ang tradisyon ng paghihintay nang may pananampalataya,” he said.
Romualdez emphasized that even in moments of darkness and uncertainty, hope remains present. “Kahit tila balot ng dilim ang paligid, alam nating ang liwanag ay paparating na. Sa katahimikan ng araw na ito, patatagin natin ang ating loob at magtiwala sa pangako ng muling pagkabuhay,” the lawmaker said.
Through his message, the lawmaker highlighted the importance of remaining steadfast in faith, especially during times of waiting. He called on the public to reflect deeply and strengthen their trust in the promise of resurrection, which symbolizes renewal and redemption in Christian belief.
“Manatili tayong matatag sa ating pananalig sa gitna ng paghihintay,” he concluded.
Romualdez’s message resonated with many, as it captured the essence of Black Saturday—a day often marked by stillness, prayer, and quiet hope. It serves as a reminder that even in life’s most uncertain and challenging moments, patience and faith can lead to brighter days ahead.
The congressman’s reflection follows his earlier message during Maundy Thursday, where he spoke about the values of service and humility toward others. His series of Holy Week messages underscores the significance of faith-driven actions and spiritual reflection, encouraging Filipinos to live out these values not only during the Lenten season but in their daily lives.
