Statement of Malacañang on Health of PBBM

Malacañang press officer undersecretary Claire Castro spoke on the speculations over the health of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.

Since January when he was brought to the hospital due to some discomfort, the health of Pres. Bongbong Marcos has been the center of speculations. Then, the President announced that he’s diagnosed with diverticulitis which is an inflammation of the large intestine.

Marcos Jr. linked his health condition to stress but assured that he has great doctors and he is perfectly fine just a few days since he was placed under a medical observation. He was on a soft diet for several days while he was supposedly recovering.

Amid the political turmoil that set them on the opposing sides of the political spectrum, president sister and Senator Imee Marcos then slammed the people in Malacañang over the health condition of Pres. Bongbong Marcos. According to her, no one is allegedly taking care of her brother.

Since then, the health of Pres. Bongbong Marcos has become the center of speculations. Former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte’s ex-spokesman Harry Roque even expressed his belief that a hospital is allegedly being built inside the Malacañang Palace for Marcos Jr. He has repeatedly called for the resignation of the President.

Roque claimed that he will only return to the country after the term of Marcos Jr. ends. Duterte’s former Spox who is also currently in The Hague, Netherlands is faced with an arrest warrant issued by a Philippine court over his alleged involvement in the illegal Philippine Offshore Gaming operations in the country.

There were also rumors that Pres. Bongbong Marcos was allegedly set to undergo an operation. Malacañang has never confirmed the said rumors and assured that the Chief Executive is fine.

Recently, amid the rumors surrounding the health of Pres. Bongbong Marcos, Malacañang press officer undersecretary Claire Castro stressed that Marcos Jr. is well. Based on a report on PhilStar, Castro also called on the public to remain vigilant from fake news.

“He is fine,” the Palace official said.

“I think mainstream media should prevail over baseless social media posts. Let’s not be too quick to believe them. There’s so much fake news, even I myself have been a victim of it,” she added.

Based on the report, Pres. Bongbong Marcos is set to meet with the Development Budget Coordination Committee or DBCC today over its recommendation amid the soaring oil costs in the country. Malacañang previously spoke on the tax implementation amid the high oil costs.
