JV Ejercito had this recent statement about Bato dela Rosa

Senator JV Ejercito appealed to Senator Bato Dela Rosa to voluntarily not receive his salary and allowances from the Senate because of his continued absences.

It can be recalled that Dela Rosa has not appeared in the Senate since November 2025, following reports that the International Criminal Court (ICC) has issued an arrest warrant against him for his role in the bloody war on drugs of the previous administration of former President Rodrigo Duterte.

From that time, Dela Rosa was nowhere to be found. With this, he is now considered the top Senate absentee and top poorly performing senator.

There had been calls before that Sen. Bato dela Rosa should forgo his salary and allowances until he enters the Senate. However, in a previous statement, it was said that the Senate has no clear rule or protocol when it comes to absentees.

Based on the report from Abante News, Sen. JV Ejercito urged Dela Rosa to observe the “no work, no pay” policy, just like other employees.

Umaapela tayo kay Sen. Bato Dela Rosa na kusang-loob na hindi muna tumanggap ng sweldo at allowances niya sa Senado,” the chairman ng Senate Committee on Ethics and Privileges stressed.

For Ejercito, Dela Rosa should also do what ordinary Filipino workers do. “Gaya ng mga ordinaryong Pilipinong “no work no pay,” lalo’t higit ganoon din dapat ang mga lingkod-bayan. Public service is a public trust, we are all accountable to the people we serve,” he said.

Ejercito has earlier stated that the Senate has no response to the call that the “no work, no pay policy” should be followed by them as well.

As stated before, even by Senate President Sotto, the Senate has yet to establish rules that can compel attendance. Any formal action will take time, as it must go through amendments and proper deliberation,” Sen. JV Ejerito said.

Meanwhile, in a recent statement, Sen. Ejercito said that he believed unease is growing as former congressman Zaldy Co returns to the Philippines amid the ongoing investigations into the anomalous flood control projects.
