Sen. JV Ejercito shared an update about Sen. Bato dela Rosa
Senator JV Ejercito said that Senator Bato dela Rosa is already considering the proposal to waive his Senate salary.
Dela Rosa has not attended a Senate session since November 2025, which meant that he has the most absences in the 20th Congress, missing 31 out of 58 session days as of mid-April.
His absence and disappearance from the public eye happened after reports circulated that the International Criminal Court (ICC) was set to issue an arrest warrant against him for his role in the drug war of the past administration of former President Rodrigo Duterte.

Following his absence, an ethics complaint was filed against Sen. Bato dela Rosa. He was criticized for still receiving his salary worth P237,000, plus allowances, until now.
Previously, Sen. JV Ejercito, who is the chairperson of the Senate Committee on Ethics and Privileges, asked Dela Rosa to waive his salary. The missing-in-action senator was also asked to observe the “no work, no pay” policy.
In an interview by GMA Integrated News on April 28, Ejercito shared that Dela Rosa is already considering not accepting his salary.
Sen. Ronald dela Rosa is reportedly considering not receiving his salary for now while he is not showing up at his Senate office, according to Sen. JV Ejercito.

He also said that in order to take away the pressure on the Senate and Sen. Dela Rosa, it was proposed to just forgo his salary. Ejercito added that Senate President Tito Sotto agreed with this.
When asked how Dela Rosa responded to this. Ejercito said there were people who brought this information to them, since they had no idea how to contact Dela Rosa.
“Meron naman nagparating na mukhang pinag ano na, pinag-usapan na nila ng kaniyang kampo,” Ejercito said, adding that hopefully, there would be positive feedback next week.
