21-Year-Old Man Shot Dead in Cavite, Basketball Conflict or Mistaken Identity Eyed
A 21-year-old man lost his life after being shot by an unidentified gunman in Cluster O, Barangay Sta. Cruz Uno, Dasmariñas City, Cavite.
On Tuesday evening, April 28, 2026, the attack happened shortly after 8:00 p.m. Witnesses said the gunman was difficult to identify because the suspect’s body was fully covered, wearing a helmet and a long-sleeved shirt during the shooting.
The victim suffered two gunshot wounds in the chest and another grazing wound on the thigh. He was immediately rushed to the hospital, but doctors declared him dead on arrival.

The victim’s mother is now calling for justice for her son. She shared the pain of losing a young man who still had many dreams and plans in life. The family said the victim was working hard toward his goals and wanted to give his loved ones a better future.
Barangay investigators are currently looking into a heated basketball-related conflict as one possible motive behind the crime. Reports stated that tensions reportedly grew after a recent basketball game in the area.
Authorities revealed that on April 23, two men riding a motorcycle allegedly shouted threatening words after a game ended. Because of this, investigators are checking if the shooting may have been connected to the earlier conflict.
However, police and barangay officials are also considering the possibility of mistaken identity. According to initial findings, some of the names mentioned during the investigation did not directly match the victim, raising questions about whether another person may have been the real target.
Police are now reviewing CCTV footage and conducting backtracking operations to identify and arrest the suspect, who quickly escaped after the shooting. The investigation remains ongoing as the family hopes for justice and answers regarding the young man’s death.
