Authorities Arrest 2 Minors After Allegedly Stealing Boat Engine
Two teenage boys ended up in police custody after they were accused of stealing a boat engine in the town of Roxas, Palawan.
On Sunday (May 3, 2026), the incident also led to a brief chase between the suspects and authorities before they were finally caught on an island under Barangay Malcampo.
The minors were identified only by their aliases, Baloy, 17 years old, and Toto, 16 years old. Both are residents of the same municipality.

According to reports, the owner of the missing boat engine immediately informed authorities after discovering that his property had disappeared. Police quickly launched a hot pursuit operation to locate the suspects.
The boat owner said the teenagers became persons of interest after some residents told him that the two were the last people seen near the area before the engine went missing. This information helped authorities narrow down their search.
Members of the Roxas Municipal Police Station, together with the boat owner, went to the island where the two minors were reportedly hiding. When authorities arrived, the teenagers allegedly attempted to escape, leading to a chase before they were eventually caught.

One of the minors later explained that they only took the boat because they needed a way to return to the island. He also claimed that they planned to return the boat the following day.
Despite the explanation, the boat owner decided to push through with filing charges against the two teenagers. He also expressed gratitude to the police officers for their quick response and successful operation.
As of this writing, the minors are under the custody of the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office while the boat used during the incident remains under police custody as part of the investigation.
