Teodoso said that they first thought the snake was just a harmless rat snake or water snake. However, they later confirmed that it was a Philippine king cobra, locally known as banakon, which is considered one of the most dangerous snakes in the country.
The video, taken on April 29, 2026, showed the cobra slowly emerging from the toilet bowl, surprising those nearby. Many netizens reacted with fear and concern after watching the video, with some saying it made them think twice about checking bathrooms more carefully.
Authorities explained that this was not the first time a king cobra had been spotted in the area. The park superintendent of the Northern Negros Natural Park shared that sightings have happened before, especially in places close to forests.
Experts believe that the hot weather may have pushed the snake to look for a cooler place, which could explain how it ended up inside the toilet. Snakes are also known to enter homes or buildings while searching for food or shelter.
The Department of Environment and Natural Resources was immediately contacted to safely remove the cobra from the resort. Officials reminded the public not to approach or disturb wild animals, especially venomous snakes, as they can become dangerous when threatened.
