Dog Shot by Riding-in-Tandem in Isabela

A riding-in-tandem was caught on camera after allegedly shooting a dog that chased their motorcycle in Ambatali, Ramon, Isabela.

The incident took place along Isabela-Alfonso Lista Road and quickly gained attention online and sparked reactions from netizens and animal lovers.

According to reports, the dog owner, Jesslyn Laddaran, came forward and asked for help in identifying the two men involved in the shooting of her pet dogs. She admitted that she also had shortcomings as a dog owner because her dogs were not tied up, which may have placed passing motorists at risk.

“Aminado po ako sa pag kukulang ko bilang isang dog owner” Laddaran said.

However, despite admitting her mistake, she stressed that no one has the right to use violence or firearms against animals in such situations.

Based on the CCTV footage reviewed by authorities, the dog was seen chasing the motorcycle while it passed through the road. Moments later, the same motorcycle reportedly returned to the area.

Without any clear warning or visible threat, one of the riders allegedly shot the dog using a firearm with an unidentified caliber. Because of the gunshot wound, the dog died at the scene.

The Ramon Police Station immediately launched an investigation after the incident was reported. Authorities started reviewing CCTV footage from nearby areas and conducted backtracking operations to identify the suspects and trace the route they may have taken after the shooting.

“Sa kuha ng CCTV footage, makikitang hinabol ng aso ang naturang motorsiklo habang ito ay dumaraan. Makalipas ang ilang sandali, bumalik umano ang parehong motorsiklo at walang anumang malinaw na dahilan ay pinaputukan ng sakay nito ang aso gamit ang hindi pa matukoy na kalibre ng baril,” Ramon Police Station said.

Police are now calling on the public to help provide information that may lead to the identification of the two men involved in the incident.

The case also triggered discussions online about responsible pet ownership and proper ways of handling situations involving animals on public roads. While many netizens reminded pet owners to keep their dogs secured for the safety of motorists and pedestrians, others also emphasized that shooting an animal should never be the immediate response.
