Bato dela Rosa was emotional as he expressed his appeal to the President

Senator Ronald Bato dela Rosa has a simple request to President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., and it is not to send him to the International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague, Netherlands.

After a six-month public absence, Dela Rosa surfaced at the Senate on May 11 to vote in a leadership coup that unseated Senate President Vicente Sotto III, who was replaced by Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano.

When he arrived at the Senate, personnel from the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) and former senator Antonio Trillanes IV attempted to serve the ICC warrant. Dela Rosa was dismayed that he felt “disrespected.”

A CCTV footage showing that he was running in the Senate building to get away from NBI agents went viral online.

On Tuesday, May 12, 2026, Sen. Bato dela Rosa appealed to President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., not to send him to The Hague in the Netherlands following news of an arrest warrant issued against him by the International Criminal Court (ICC), based on the article in Abante.

Tao lang ako hindi ako robot. Hindi ako makina. Tao lang ako. My appeal is sincere to the President. ’Wag niya ko ipadala sa The Hague,” Dela Rosa requested.

The Senator also said, “Kahit sang court sa Pilipinas. Pareho tayo Pilipino Mr. President. Kung meron ako pananagutan, panagutan ko sa ating local court.”

Dela Rosa was placed in Senate protective custody amid an arrest warrant issued against him by the International Criminal Court (ICC).

When asked what he feels right now, Dela Rosa said that he feels very low and that he is at the lowest point in his life.

Ikaw ba naman nagtrabaho ka husto. Serbisyo talaga. Yung aking ideals sa PMA, courage integrity, sinasabuhay ko yan. Tapos ganito mangyari sakin?” Senator Bato dela Rosa said.

Tao lang naman tayo. Mga pinagdaanan, the more I am humanized, sa lahat ng trials, the more na na-humanize ako,” sambit pa ni Dela Rosa.
