Robin Padilla and Kiko Pangilinan had a heated argument
On Monday, May 12, 2026, a heated argument occurred between Senators Robin Padilla and Kiko Pangilinan during a Senate plenary session.
Padilla started his political career in 2022, when he ran for senator, while Pangilinan has long been in the political arena. The husband of Megastar Sharon Cuneta returned to the Senate after winning in the 2025 midterm elections.
Yesterday, Padilla and Pangilinan were involved in an issue. They had a confrontation when Padilla accused Pangilinan was shouting at him, after he was cut off during a manifestation.
Senator Robin Padilla stressed that he is not used to being shouted at. Then, he questioend if the Senate rules allow members to yell at one another. The confrontation led Padilla to announce his intent to file a complaint with the Senate Ethics Committee
Senator Kiko Pangilinan asserted that he did not shout and that he just he simply raised his voice to emphasize that he still had the floor after being interrupted.
“Sa tagal ko dito sa Senado at sa dami ng sigawan o pagtataas ng boses na nangyari na rito, ngayon lang siguro magkaka-ethics case na ganito,” Pangilinan said.
Then, he challenged Padilla’s threat to file a complaint, saying that he will not back down, and may file a counter-complaint for disorderly conduct and intimidation, based on the article in Philstar.
“Ayaw ko ng away. Hindi ako palaaway pero hindi ko siya aatrasan kung gusto niya ng kasuhan,” Pangilinan said.
During the senate session break. Sen. Robin Padilla and Sen. Kiko Pangilinan, were seen talking with other senators. Then, Pangilinan offered a handshake but Padilla refused to take it. It can be seen that Sen. Jinggoy Estrada was trying to ease the tension.
