Mon Tulfo shared what his source said about the Senate shooting incident
On the evening of May 13, 2026, the Philippine Senate shooting incident occurred when multiple gunshots were heard inside the legislative building in Pasay City.
This incident happened amid high tension after the International Criminal Court (ICC) unsealed an arrest warrant against Senator Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa for crimes against humanity linked to former President Rodrigo Duterte’s drug war.
The lawmaker has been taking refuge inside the Senate building seeking legislative protection since his surprise appearance on Monday, May 11.
Based on the report from The Philippine Star, the Southern Police District stated that the suspect arrested in last night’s Senate shooting incident was Mel Oragon, 44, a driver employed at the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI).
NBI Director Melvin Matibag denied that the agency authorized any operations inside the Senate premises on Wednesday night.
Dela Rosa and other senators remain safe inside the building while the Senate and the Philippine National Police conduct a full investigation into the security breach.
On Thursday, May 14, veteran broadcaster Mon Tulfo shared what is supposed to have happened during the Senate shooting incident.
Tulfo said that based on his source, there were more than 10 shots that were fired. “Ito ang tunay na nangyari sa putukan sa Senado kagabi, ayon sa aking tweety bird: The 37 shots fired came from personnel of the Senate sergeant-at-arms under Mao Aplasca,” he said.
According to Tulfo, there were no shots fired coming from the NBI’s camp. He also pointed out that Aplasca and Bato were classmates at the Philippine Military Academy (PMA).
Tulfo also accused Senate President Alan Peter Cayetano and Sen. Dela Rosa of staging the commotion.
“They wanted to gain public sympathy and call on the stupid DDS to gather outside the Senate,” the veteran broadcaster claimed, adding that Cayetano does not want Vice President Sara Duterte’s impeachment case to continue. Then, Mon Tulfo said, “Basta bading madrama, sabi ni tweety bird.”
