An LGBTQ individual in Palimbang, Sultan Kudarat is set to face charges after alleged deception in a marriage case.
A controversial marriage case in Palimbang, Sultan Kudarat elicits reactions online after an LGBTQ individual allegedly pretended to be a woman and married a 20-year-old man during a Muslim wedding ceremony held in Barangay Malisbong.
Local authorities confirmed that the matter has already been endorsed to the police for proper investigation. Officials are now looking into possible complaints that may be filed in connection with the incident, including allegations involving deception and fraud.

According to reports, the wedding ceremony took place on May 16, 2026. The issue quickly spread across the community after the groom allegedly discovered later on that the person he married was biologically male.
Palimbang Vice Mayor Joenemi Kapina shared that the issue created strong reactions among residents, especially within the Muslim community where marriage is treated as a sacred religious tradition.
Community elders and religious leaders were also said to have expressed concern because of the impact of the incident.

The municipal government has coordinated with the police and the Department of Social Welfare and Development to provide support and assistance to the affected parties while the investigation continues.
Authorities also confirmed that the individual involved is currently under police custody as investigators gather more information about the case.
Meanwhile, several stories circulating online claimed that the two first met through the online game Mobile Legends: Bang Bang and stayed in a relationship for months before getting married.
However, officials clarified that many of the details being shared on social media have not yet been verified.
Authorities have not publicly revealed the identities of those involved. Local officials also reminded the public to avoid spreading false information and warned against using offensive or hateful remarks toward the LGBTQ community while the case is still under investigation.
