Police Officer Arrested For Threatening Parking Attendant with Firearm
A police officer was arrested after allegedly threatening a vendor and a parking attendant with a firearm in Manila, according to authorities.
The Manila Police District (MPD) reported that the incident happened in front of a bar located at the corner of Moret and Loyola Streets in Sampaloc. The case was made public on Thursday, May 21, 2026.
Based on the investigation, the officer allegedly pointed his gun at a vendor without any clear reason or provocation. The sudden act shocked people in the area, especially since it involved a member of the police force.

After a few moments, the same officer reportedly confronted a parking attendant over a missing motorcycle helmet in the area. The parking attendant explained that he had no knowledge about the missing item.
Authorities said the officer followed the parking attendant and again pointed his firearm at him. Fearing for his safety, the parking attendant immediately ran away to avoid any harm.
After the incident, both victims reported what happened to the police. Their complaints led to the immediate arrest of the suspect, although officials did not disclose where he was taken into custody.
The suspect, identified as a patrolman assigned to the Southern Police District, is now facing two counts of grave threats. Authorities have also chosen not to release the identities of both the suspect and the victims as the investigation continues.
Police officials confirmed that the case is being handled seriously, especially since it involves one of their own personnel. They also assured the public that proper legal procedures will be followed.
The MPD reminded all officers to remain responsible and disciplined while wearing the uniform, stressing that abuse of authority will not be tolerated. The investigation into the full details of the incident is still ongoing.
