Several students were swept away by strong floodwaters while heading home in Antipolo, Rizal, after the cancellation of classes due to heavy rains.
Several students experienced a frightening situation after being caught in strong floodwaters while heading home following the cancellation of classes due to heavy rains brought by the southwest monsoon.
Heavy flooding affected several areas as continuous rainfall caused rivers and drainage systems to overflow. In Barangay Mambugan, floodwaters rapidly rose and flowed with strong force, making it difficult for residents and students to move safely.

Reports indicated that some students were swept away by the rushing water while trying to get home.
According to a teacher who shared information about the incident, many students struggled to return home because the announcement of class suspension came late. As the weather worsened, students found themselves caught in the middle of heavy rain and rising floodwaters.
Some sought temporary shelter while waiting for the rain to ease and for transportation to become available.
Flooding was also reported in several subdivisions and along parts of Sumulong Highway, causing severe traffic congestion. Vehicles moved slowly as roads became submerged, leaving many motorists stranded for hours.
The effects of the bad weather were also felt along Marcos Highway and in Barangay San Isidro in Montalban, where residents faced difficult travel conditions due to flooded roads. In nearby Cainta, floodwaters reached knee-deep levels in some areas.
Several vehicles were partially submerged, while motorcycle riders and residents carefully crossed flooded streets to reach safer locations.
To assist stranded residents, the Cainta local government deployed rescue trucks and provided free rides to people who needed help getting through flooded areas. The effort helped many commuters, workers, and students reach safer places despite the challenging weather conditions.
