Bam Aquino Speaks Out as Zamboanga Community Reels From Tragedy
BAM AQUINO – The violence reported in Zamboanga has drawn a heartfelt response from Senator Bam Aquino, who stressed the need to keep communities safe from similar tragedies.
Senator Bam Aquino expressed deep sorrow following the violent incident reported in Zamboanga, emphasizing the painful consequences it has brought to families and the wider community.
In a statement, Aquino described the incident as heartbreaking and offered his condolences to the families and friends of those who died, as well as to everyone affected by the tragedy.

“Nakadudurog ng puso ang mabalitaan ang nangyaring karahasan sa Zamboanga kaninang umaga,” Aquino said.
The senator also shared his perspective as a parent, saying the incident was especially distressing because a place where young people should be able to develop their hopes and dreams had instead become connected to fear and violence.
“Bilang isang magulang, nakapanlulumo na malaman na ang espasyo kung saan nabubuo ang pag-asa at pangarap ay nagiging lugar ng takot at karahasan,” he said.
Aquino stressed that the impact of violence extends beyond the immediate victims. Families grieving the loss of loved ones, friends left behind, and members of the affected community may continue to experience fear, uncertainty, and emotional pain following such an incident.
He expressed his support for those mourning and those trying to cope with the aftermath, extending his sympathy to everyone touched by the tragedy.
“Lubos tayong nakikiramay sa mga pamilya at kaibigan ng nasawi at sa buong komunidad na naapektuhan ng insidenteng ito,” Aquino said.
His statement also underscored the importance of protecting places where young people learn, grow, and pursue their aspirations. For the senator, these spaces should provide a sense of safety and encouragement rather than become locations associated with violence.

Aquino said the tragedy should prompt more than expressions of sympathy. He called for efforts to prevent a similar incident from occurring in the future, stressing the need for collective action and stronger measures to protect communities.
“At gagawin natin ang lahat na hindi na ito maulit muli,” he said.
Through his message, Aquino combined his condolences for the victims with a commitment to helping prevent similar acts of violence. His remarks highlighted the responsibility of leaders and communities to work together in creating safer environments where families can live without fear and young people can continue pursuing their dreams with hope and confidence.
