Pampanga Officials Criticized Over Designer Outfits During Flood Inspection
Pampanga Governor Lilia Pineda, Vice Governor Dennis “Delta” Pineda, and San Fernando Mayor Vilma Balle-Caluag were criticized online after being seen wearing designer clothes while inspecting areas affected by heavy rains and flooding in the province.
Photos shared on social media showed Vice Governor Pineda wearing Balmain and Governor Pineda wearing Prada during an inspection of the damage at Sto. Cristo Dam in Lubao, Pampanga. Mayor Caluag was also seen wearing a Burberry jacket and Calvin Klein leggings.
The photos quickly drew attention from netizens, who questioned the officials’ choice of expensive clothing while many residents were dealing with flooding and property damage. Some sarcastically asked if the officials were attending a fashion week instead of a disaster inspection.
Others criticized the officials for appearing out of touch with affected residents. They said government officials should be more modest, especially when visiting communities dealing with serious damage and hardship.
