Amid the National Issues, Marcos Jr.’s Office Now Settled w/ Its Budget Proposal for Next Year
MARCOS JR. – The Office of the President is proposing P10.1 billion as its budget for the fiscal year 2027.
Amid the many issues in the Philippines now, the departments and branches of the government are already preparing their budget requests for next year. The Office of the President has revealed its budget proposal for 2027.
The Philippine government is faced with several issues — the flood control issue, the ongoing impeachment trial of Vice Pres. Sara Duterte, the high inflation rate among of others.
Amid the increasing debt of the country, presidential sister and Senator Imee Marcos previously claimed that the Senate allegedly spends P25 billion daily amid Duterte’s ongoing impeachment trial. The Vice President is being questioned about her alleged misuse of the confidential funds – the same fund that is also granted to the OP.
In fact, in its budget proposal for 2027, Marcos Jr.’s office has included the request for confidential funds. The Office of the President is asking for a P10.1 billion budget for next year.
As per a report of News5, the amount sought by the Office of the President for next year is 64% lower compared to its budget in the previous years. Based on the post, Executive Secretary Ralph Recto also highlighted that Marcos Jr.’s office received an “Unmodified Opinion” from the Commission on Audit (COA) for the fiscal year 2025.
For this year, Marcos Jr.’s office had asked for a P27.3 billion budget. The OP is also the biggest recipient of the confidential and intelligence funds. Here are the budget allocations for 2026:
- Department of Education — P1.015 trillion
- Department of Public Works and Highways — P530.9 billion
- Department of Health — P448.1 billion
- Department of the Interior and Local Government — P310.5 billion
- Department of National Defense — P310.0 billion
- Department of Agriculture — P297.1 billion
- Department of Social Welfare and Development — P270.2 billion
- Department of Transportation — P141.0 billion
- Department of Labor and Employment — P73.6 billion
- Judiciary — P70.6 billion
Previously, Malacañang stressed that Marcos Jr. is confident that the 2026 national budget is the “cleanest and most proper”.
