Lady Netizen Vents Frustration Over P10 Photo Fee at Leaning Coconut Tree in Boracay
A lady netizen raised concerns about an alleged P10 fee being collected from tourists who want to take photos at Boracay’s famous leaning coconut tree.
Recently, Cindy Rusiel, a Facebook user, shared her experience during a recent visit to the popular tourist spot. The post went viral and garnered various reactions from other social media users.
According to Rusiel, she was surprised to learn that tourists were allegedly being asked to pay P10 for every photo taken at the leaning coconut tree. She recalled that there was no similar charge during her previous visit to the area.
While the fee was reportedly not required, Rusiel said the situation still left her uncomfortable because the person managing the queue numbers was also the photographer at the site.
Tourists who want to take pictures at the popular spot usually wait for their turn, especially when many visitors are around. The system is meant to keep the line organized and give everyone a chance to have their photos taken.
Rusiel said she questioned the P10 charge during her visit. She claimed that after raising her concern, she was no longer given a number for the queue.
Some may see the small amount as reasonable if it supports local photographers or helps maintain the area, while others believe visitors should be allowed to take pictures without feeling pressured to pay.
For Rusiel, a voluntary tip system would be a better option. She suggested having a tip box where tourists could freely give an amount if they were satisfied with the photographer’s service.
