Oil Price Rollback Set Last Week of September
FUEL PRICE UPDATE – The Department of Energy (DOE) announced an oil price rollback starting September 29, 2026 (Tuesday).
Filipino motorists and consumers across the country are set to get a break this week as fuel companies implement a rollback in pump prices.
The Energy Department announces that diesel prices will go down by P7.57 per liter, kerosene will decrease by P5.85 per liter, and gasoline will be reduced by P0.24 per liter.
The upcoming rollback comes after several weeks of continuous fuel price increases that placed additional pressure on transportation costs and household budgets. From September 8 to 28 alone, diesel prices climbed by more than P18 per liter, while gasoline prices rose by over P15 per liter.
The previous increases were largely linked to developments in the Middle East, where tensions involving the United States, Israel, and Iran raised concerns about the stability of global oil supplies.
Uncertainty in the region affected the international oil market and pushed fuel prices higher around the world.
However, market conditions began to improve after reports suggested that diplomatic discussions between the United States and Iran could resume. News of possible efforts to reduce tensions helped calm fears of supply disruptions that had worried traders in recent weeks.
Another factor that influenced the market was the renewed focus on the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most important oil shipping routes. The waterway serves as a key passage for a large portion of global energy supplies. As concerns about possible interruptions eased, global oil prices also started to move lower.
The huge reduction in diesel prices is expected to provide much-needed relief to public transport operators, delivery services, farmers, and businesses that rely heavily on fuel for daily operations. Households that use kerosene may also benefit from lower expenses.
