₱30 Fee Is for Museum, Not Store, Rovelyn Baterbonia Clarifies
ROVELYN BATERBONIA – The mother of late Ateneo player Rene Baterbonia clarified that the ₱30 entrance fee being discussed online is not for their merchandise store.
The Baterbonia family opened Baterbonia’s Collections in August. The store sells merchandise connected to Rene and remains free for all visitors. The ₱30 fee only applies to people who want to enter the mini museum dedicated to the late athlete. According to Rovelyn, the fee helps cover the museum’s maintenance and other expenses.
The clarification came after a video from a netizen went viral online, claiming that visitors had to pay ₱30 to enter the establishment. The post led to discussions among netizens, with some questioning why customers were being charged while others supported the family.
Rovelyn explained that visitors can freely enter the merchandise store without paying anything. Those who want to visit the mini museum, however, are asked to pay the ₱30 entrance fee.
She also said residents of Talacogon can enter the museum for free. This applies to residents from all 16 barangays of the municipality, provided they can show proof of residency.
Visitors from outside Talacogon who accompany local residents are still required to pay the ₱30 museum entrance fee. The family’s store, however, remains free regardless of where a visitor comes from.
Rovelyn’s explanation was intended to clear up the misunderstanding surrounding the entrance charge. She stressed that the fee is specifically for the museum and is not required to enter the store.
Although some netizens continue to question the decision, many of the family’s followers have expressed their support. Several also shared their interest in visiting Baterbonia’s Collections and seeing the museum dedicated to Rene.
The family hopes the clarification will help visitors understand the difference between the free merchandise store and the museum, which has the ₱30 entrance fee.
