Store in Puerto Princesa Warns Public After Male Customer Allegedly Uses Fake P1,000 Bill
A male customer allegedly used a fake P1,000 bill to buy goods and receive change from a small store in Puerto Princesa City.
On September 28, 2026, a small store along WesCom Road in Barangay San Miguel, Puerto Princesa City is reminding business owners and residents to stay alert after a man allegedly used a fake money to buy goods.
According to the store owner, the suspect entered the store and purchased a pack of cigarettes worth P100. He then handed over what appeared to be a P1,000 bill as payment.
The store was reportedly attended by minors. Because of the busy situation and the appearance of the bill, the young attendants did not immediately notice that the money was allegedly counterfeited.
The store owner later discovered that the bill was not genuine. By then, the man had already left the area after receiving both the cigarettes and the change from the transaction.
Residents familiar with the incident said the man appeared hesitant while paying. He reportedly seemed unsure about handing over the bill and was acting casually with the store’s attendants before finally completing the purchase. His behavior only raised suspicion after the fake bill was discovered.

Barangay officials were informed about the incident. Initial information indicated that the man was not a resident of Barangay San Miguel, making it more difficult to immediately identify him.
Although the store suffered a financial loss from the transaction, the owner decided to share the experience publicly to raise awareness among other shop owners and workers. The goal was to help others recognize similar schemes and avoid becoming victims of fraud.
