Brazil Prisoner Squeezes Through Tiny Gap to Escape Cell
A prisoner in Brazil escaped from a detention cell after squeezing his body through a narrow opening between the bars. The unusual escape was featured in a report by Unang Balita, which showed the detainee carefully forcing himself through the small gap.
The prisoner first pushed his arms through the opening before slowly moving his upper body outside the cell. He then twisted and adjusted his position to get the rest of his body through the bars. At one point, he was seen upside down while trying to free his legs. Despite the limited space, he eventually managed to pull his entire body through and escape.
The prisoner had reportedly been arrested over a domestic violence complaint. However, authorities did not provide further details about the case or the events that led to his arrest.
His freedom did not last long. Police later found and recaptured him before placing him in a more secure detention cell. Authorities also planned to repair or modify the original cell to prevent another escape.
The incident gained attention because of the unusual way the prisoner managed to get out. He did not appear to use any tools or damage the bars. Instead, he carefully squeezed himself through the narrow opening until he was completely outside the cell.
Authorities said the changes to the detention facility were necessary to improve security and prevent similar incidents. The escape also showed how even a small gap in a detention cell can create a security problem if it is large enough for a prisoner to pass through.
After being recaptured, the detainee was returned to police custody and placed in a more secure area. Authorities are expected to strengthen the cell where the escape happened to make sure other detainees cannot use the same method.
