2 Female Students Lost Their Lives in Boarding House Fire
Two female students died after becoming trapped inside a burning boarding house in a residential compound in Cagayan de Oro City.
The fire reportedly spread through the boarding house in Barangay Nazareth, leaving the two young women unable to escape. One of the victims was the daughter of the boarding house owner.
The owner reportedly tried to contact her daughter after learning about the fire. However, her calls went unanswered, raising fears that the young woman was still inside the burning building.

Rescue efforts continued as firefighters worked to control the flames. The fire reached the third alarm, showing the seriousness of the incident and the challenges faced by responding fire personnel.
It was already around noon when the remains of the two victims were brought out of the burned boarding house. Their relatives and friends later identified them.
The deaths left their families and loved ones facing a painful loss, especially as the victims were young students whose lives were cut short by the tragic incident.
A barangay official said the families had requested an autopsy to help determine further details surrounding the victims’ deaths. The examination is expected to provide additional information as authorities continue their investigation.
Meanwhile, the exact cause of the fire has yet to be established. The boarding house owner mentioned that old electrical wires in the building had recently been replaced. However, authorities have not confirmed whether the electrical system had anything to do with the fire.
Investigators are still working to determine what started the blaze and how it spread through the property.
