Robin Padilla Shares Reaction to Duterte’s Latest ICC Appearance

ROBIN PADILLA – The senator reacted after former Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte appeared in person at the International Criminal Court (ICC) on Tuesday, October 13, for his fourth status conference in connection with the crimes against humanity case against him.

Padilla shared a photo of Duterte on his Facebook page, along with an image of himself watching the ICC proceedings through a livestream. Duterte was seen sitting behind the defense team led by lead defense counsel Peter Haynes.
In the caption, Padilla described the former president as forever young, expressing his reaction to seeing Duterte appear in court again.

Duterte’s latest appearance marks another public sighting since his arrest by the ICC. He was previously seen during the third status conference in September 2026. His appearance on October 13 was his second public appearance since then.

The fourth status conference focused on preparations for the upcoming trial, including matters related to the presentation of evidence. The court was also expected to discuss the trial schedule, the time allocated for the opening statements of both sides, and the initial stage of presenting evidence.

These proceedings are part of the ICC’s efforts to prepare the case for trial. Duterte faces allegations of crimes against humanity linked to his administration’s anti-drug campaign. The allegations have yet to be decided by the court.

The ICC has scheduled the official start of the trial for November 30, 2026. The upcoming proceedings are expected to cover the prosecution’s case and the defense’s response as the court examines the evidence. Padilla’s post drew attention to Duterte’s return to the courtroom, while the ICC continued preparations for the former president’s case.
