Former Maid Sought for Allegedly Stealing P2.9-M to Fund Cosmetic Procedures
A former maid reportedly stole P2.9 million worth of cash and jewelry from her employer in Cebu to fund nose and eyebrow enhancement.
Authorities are searching for a 29-year-old former household helper who allegedly stole P2.9 million worth of cash and jewelry from her employer in Cebu before spending part of the money on cosmetic procedures.
The suspect was identified as Renjelme Pangan Talan, also known as Rheign. She reportedly worked as a household helper for just over a month before allegedly stealing money and valuable jewelry from her employer’s home.
According to reports, the incident happened on October 10. Closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage showed a woman leaving a subdivision in Cebu City with a jacket tied around her body. Another camera angle reportedly captured her riding a motorcycle as she left the area.
The victims discovered that their cash and expensive jewelry were missing. The employer explained that the stolen money included funds from their business and admitted that they had failed to conduct a background check before hiring the helper.
The suspect allegedly spent around P500,000 on cosmetic enhancements, including procedures on her nose and eyebrows.
Reports also indicated that she sent photos showing her new appearance to some acquaintances days after the alleged theft. She was also suspected of obtaining a new or fake national identification card to make it harder for authorities to recognize her.
Dumanjug Vice Mayor Erwin Wado Gica, who was identified as one of the victims, reportedly offered a P50,000 reward for information that could help locate and arrest the suspect.
Investigators are continuing their efforts to track her down and determine the full circumstances surrounding the alleged theft.
Meanwhile, authorities are urging anyone with information about the suspect’s locations to come forward and assist in the investigation.
