2 Grade 6 Students Elicit Reactions Online During Intense Fight in Valenzuela City

Two Grade 6 students were caught on closed-circuit television (CCTV) pulling each other’s hair during a fight in Barangay Canumay West, Valenzuela City.

On Tuesday afternoon, October 20, 2026, a group of students gathered along San Diego Street, near Canumay West Elementary School before two female students began pulling each other’s hair.

Their classmates reportedly counted down before the fight started. The confrontation continued, with the two students struggling against each other until other students stepped in to separate them.

The mother of one of the students, a 12-year-old girl, said her daughter only stepped in to help a friend who was allegedly challenged to a hair-pulling fight. She explained that her daughter was not originally involved in the disagreement.

Pedro Manrique Jr., coordinator of the Barangay Canumay Council for the Protection of Children, said teasing among classmates may have triggered the incident. He added that the students involved were laughing together before the situation suddenly turned into a fight.

“Nagtatawanan pa sila eh tapos biglang nagkaroon ng sabunutan ‘yung dalawang bata. May unang nag-hamon ng sabunutan, pero nung pinatawag ay hindi naman daw siya nag-hamon. Bina-backstab daw ‘yung isang bata. Naayos naman at ipapa-medical nga po yung isa, at kung ano man ang magiging gastos, muli nilang pag-uusapan,” Manrique said.

The barangay has already brought the students and their parents together to discuss what happened. Officials are working to determine the real cause of the disagreement and identify suitable measures to prevent similar incidents. Medical attention for one of the students was also discussed, along with the possible expenses.

Barangay Canumay West Captain Mario San Andres said the Barangay Council for the Protection of Children is handling the matter and assessing the appropriate intervention for the students involved.

Meanwhile, the Valenzuela City Police Station increased patrols and monitoring in the area as a preventive measure. Police also confirmed that Canumay West Elementary School would conduct a separate investigation to establish the circumstances surrounding the fight and determine the appropriate action.

Local officials reminded parents to guide their children and encouraged students to avoid conflicts. They stressed the importance of maintaining a safe, peaceful, and respectful environment where all students can learn without fear of violence.
