Wife Killed by Security Guard Husband Over Child Support Dispute in Antipolo

A 42-year-old woman was shot dead by her estranged husband outside the Rizal Provincial Capitol in Barangay San Roque, Antipolo City.

On Thursday (October 22, 2026), the shooting happened after a disagreement over financial support for their three children.

The suspect, 49, is a member of the Provincial Security Group of the Rizal provincial government. He allegedly shot his wife shortly after they met at the provincial government’s Human Resources Management Office to discuss child support.

According to police, the Antipolo City Social Welfare Office had previously set the monthly support at P6,000 when the couple met in July. However, during their latest meeting, the husband wanted to reduce the amount to P1,500, a proposal the victim refused to accept.

The victim’s sister, who was walking with her when the shooting happened, witnessed the attack. She said the suspect approached her sister with a gun before opening fire.

The victim’s 18-year-old daughter revealed that her parents had been separated for about five years because of her father’s alleged repeated physical abuse. She also claimed that his drug use had been a source of conflict in their family.

“Simula pa lang po bata kami binubugbog na po ni papa si mama kasi gumagamit po ‘yun ng droga si papa. ‘Yun po yung pinagtatalunan nila kung bakit sila nag-aaway,” the 18-year-old woman said.

The family’s financial situation had also become difficult. Their eldest child, 19, had stopped studying to pursue a career at sea, while their mother had only recently returned from working as a domestic helper in Oman for four years.

Police arrested the suspect shortly after the shooting, with help from a motorcycle rider who intervened. Authorities recovered the .45-caliber service firearm allegedly used in the crime.

Antipolo police chief Police Lieutenant Colonel Mark Henry Garcia said the suspect claimed he suddenly lost control as his wife was leaving the capitol grounds.

The victim’s relatives plan to pursue a parricide case against him. The Antipolo City and Rizal provincial governments have expressed their condolences and offered financial and legal assistance to the bereaved family.
