Authorities Arrest 23-Year-Old Woman for Offering Illegal Dental Services Online
A 23-year-old woman was arrested in Limay, Bataan, for allegedly offering dental services online without the proper education, training, or license to practice dentistry.
The suspect, identified by the alias Gabbie, was arrested during an entrapment operation conducted by the Olongapo City Cyber Response Team following an investigation into her activities on social media.
Authorities discovered that the woman had been advertising do-it-yourself dental braces on Facebook for P2,500, covering both the upper and lower teeth. Her online offers reportedly attracted attention because she was providing a service that requires professional knowledge and proper dental training.

During the investigation, the suspect reportedly admitted that she had been offering illegal dental services for around six years despite having no formal education, license, or professional training in dentistry.
She allegedly learned how to install braces by observing the person who fitted her own braces and watching online video tutorials. However, authorities stressed the importance of receiving dental treatment from qualified professionals rather than relying on procedures learned through informal sources.
The suspect is facing a complaint for allegedly violating Section 33 of the Philippine Dental Act of 2007 in relation to the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012.
While affordable braces may attract customers, improperly installed dental appliances can potentially damage teeth and gums, cause infections, and lead to other serious oral health problems.
The Anti-Cybercrime Group reminded the public to carefully check the qualifications and licenses of anyone offering dental services online.
People planning to get braces or undergo other dental procedures are encouraged to consult licensed dentists who can properly assess their needs and provide safe treatment.
Authorities also advised the public to remain cautious when dealing with online service providers, especially those offering medical or dental procedures at unusually low prices without showing proof of professional qualifications.
