Off-Duty Police Officer Mauled by Group of Men He Confronted in Antipolo City
An off-duty police officer ended up in the hospital after he was allegedly beaten up by a group of men he confronted along a road in Antipolo City, Rizal.
The incident happened in the early morning of Saturday, October 31, 2026, in Barangay San Jose, according to a GMA News report. Witnesses said the officer was in civilian clothes and was allegedly drunk at the time.

In a video of the incident, a man could be heard saying that the man on a motorcycle suddenly stopped in front of their group and introduced himself as a police officer. The man also said they were already about to go inside the gate and pack up their things.
However, the exchange went on until someone grabbed the officer’s hand after the group noticed that he was carrying a gun. The confrontation then turned into a beating.
Based on the police investigation, the group the officer confronted was allegedly having a drinking session. A witness denied this and said the men were only playing online games when the officer passed by and allegedly started picking on them.
The witness added that the officer could not be talked to properly because he was drunk. The men reportedly ganged up on him because they thought he was about to open fire after they saw his firearm.
The officer, who sustained wounds on his face, was brought to the hospital. Police confirmed that he is one of their own and holds the rank of Corporal.
Four people involved in the incident were arrested, while two minors were brought to the Lingap Kabataan. Authorities are still trying to get the side of the officer, who is recovering.
Meanwhile, the Rizal Police Provincial Office said in a statement that representatives of the National Police Commission (NAPOLCOM), the Provincial Internal Affairs Service, the Provincial Investigation and Detection Management Unit, the Antipolo City police chief and the case investigator have interviewed both the officer and the suspects, Daily Tribune reported.
The provincial police office said the inquiry aims to establish the full circumstances of the incident, including the related allegations. It added that it will follow established procedures to hold accountable anyone found to have violated the law or police policies.
The statement did not name the people involved or say whether charges have already been filed. The investigation is ongoing.
