Statement of Malacañang on Poverty Ratings in PH Based on OCTA Research Survey
MALACAÑANG – The Palace welcomed the decline in the poverty ratings in the results of the OCTA Research survey.
Recently, the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) revealed the latest results on the growth of the country’s economy. It showed a fast growth in the first quarter of 2025 compared to the last quarter of 2024.

According to PSA, the Philippine economy grew at 5.3% in the last quarter of 2024. This first quarter of 2025, the gross domestic product or GDP of the country, the value of goods and services in a given period, grew by 5.4%.
Previously, Malacañang said that Pres. Bongbong Marcos is happy over the fast growth of the Philippine economy in the first quarter of 2025. According to Palace press undersecretary Atty. Claire Castro, the growth in the country’s economy is indicative of the hardwork of the government officials to improve the economy of the nation.

Aside from the fast growth in the economy of the Philippines, the poverty survey results of the OCTA Research also showed a decline in the number of Filipino families who consider themselves poor.

Based on a report on Inquirer, Malacañang press undersecretary Atty. Claire Castro said the Palace welcomes the decline in the number of Filipino families who consider themselves poor. She stressed that it is attributed to the antipoverty and social welfare initiatives of the current administration.
The poverty survey of the OCTA Research was conducted from April 10 to April 16. The results of the self-rated poverty survey showed a drop from 50% in November 2024 to 42%. Based on the report, the decline presents that around 2.1 million Filipino families believe that their standard of living improved and they do not anymore consider themselves poor.
With the 2025 Elections drawing near, Pres. Bongbong Marcos gave his final pitch for the Alyansa candidates calling for votes for the continuity of the projects and programs of the administration. He claimed that the Philippines is now known as one of the country’s with a fast-growing economy.
