Businesswoman Sarah Discaya, the opponent of incumbent Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto, shared that she is a first-time voter and this received comments from netizens.
Mayor Vico became one of the youngest mayors in the Philippines when he won in 2019. His win was iconic because he went against a strong opponent who has been reigning the local political scene in Pasig City for almost three decades.
For his last term, the son of Vic Sotto and Coney Reyes faced a newbie in the political arena. Not only that, Discaya is also a newbie when it comes to casting votes.
In a report released by ABS-CBN News, it was said that Sarah Discaya arrived at Bambang Elementary School to cast her vote as a first-time voter at around 11 AM.
During the interview, she expressed that she was excited because it was her first time in the political arena and her first time also to vote. When asked why it is only her first time to vote, Discaya said that she had a hard time registering for the Commission on Elections.
“Kasi ang hirap eh, ilang beses na ako mag-try na mag-register so medyo mahirap,” she said, adding that she actually registered in Comelec’s satellite office.

She was also asked if she feels confident about the result, she said that she is hoping but she is also prepared if disappointment comes after. This admission about being a first-time voter surprised netizens.
In the comment section, netizens expressed negative, funny, and quite shocked reactions to what the opponent of Vico Sotto said. “Di pa magpaparehistro kung di tatakbo amp,” a netizen commented while another one said, “First time voter?? Ano taga bundok??” Here are some comments.
Meanwhile, Sarah Discaya’s husband filed a disqualification case against Mayor Vico Sotto. In the Mayor’s statement answering the accusation against him, he mentioned that he was the one who had a good reason to file a disqualification case because based on the evidence they got, Discaya allegedly used his British passport after filing her COC.
