14-Year-Old Boy Stabs Mother After Being Reminded to Spend Less Time w/ Friends
A 14-year-old boy allegedly stabbed his 37-year-old mother after being told to student inside their home in Laoag City, Ilocos Norte.
On Wednesday (October 14, 2026), the police authorities reported that the incident reportedly happened after the mother reminded her son to focus on his studies and spend less time going out with his friends.
Authorities said the teenager became irritated after being told to change his habits. The argument reportedly grew heated when the boy shouted at his mother, prompting her to become upset as well.
The teenager went upstairs to the second floor of their house. His mother followed him and continued talking to him about his behavior.
While they were on the second floor, the boy allegedly pulled out a small knife and stabbed his mother in the stomach. When she tried to stop him, he reportedly stabbed her again in the chest.
Despite her injuries, the mother managed to seek help and was immediately brought to a hospital for medical treatment. Police later confirmed that the victim was already in stable condition. However, she remained confined in the hospital for further care and monitoring.
Police Major Noel Cabacungan, information officer of the Ilocos Norte police, provided details about the incident and the reported argument that came before the stabbing.
Meanwhile, authorities brought the 14-year-old boy to the Laoag City Police Station with the assistance of the City Social Welfare and Development Office. Police also recovered a knife believed to have been used in the incident as part of their investigation.
Since the suspect is a minor, the case is being handled with the involvement of the appropriate social welfare authorities, in accordance with procedures for children in conflict with the law.
Authorities are expected to continue investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
