On Wednesday afternoon (August 12, 2026), sixteen students were rushed to the emergency room of Cadiz City Hospital after reportedly experiencing dizziness and discomfort following the consumption of a fruit locally known as kasla in Barangay Tiglawigan.
According to initial reports, the incident happened at around 4:00 p.m. Residents in the area became concerned after several children began feeling unwell shortly after eating the fruit. The students reportedly complained of dizziness, prompting teachers, parents, and local residents to seek immediate medical assistance.

The affected children were quickly brought to the hospital for evaluation and treatment. Health workers monitored their condition to ensure their safety and determine the possible cause of their symptoms.
Based on information gathered from the community, the students had eaten the fruit from a plant commonly known in the area as kasla. Some of the children reportedly described its taste as similar to peanuts, which may have encouraged them to try it.
