Drunk Man Attacks 3 Baby Goats in Nueva Ecija

Three young goats were injured after they were allegedly hacked and thrown onto the road by a man in Barangay Villa Boado, Talugtug, Nueva Ecija.

A cellphone showing a man repeatedly striking the small goats while they were near the roadside circulated on social media.

According to the Talugtug Police, the suspect admitted that he had been drinking before the incident occurred. Investigators said the man became angry after seeing the goats feeding on vegetables planted on his property.

Police explained that the goats had reportedly wandered into or near the man’s vegetable garden, causing damage to his crops. The situation allegedly led to an emotional reaction that resulted in the animals being harmed.

The three goats suffered injuries from the attack and were left hurt following the incident. The video quickly sparked concern among residents and animal welfare supporters, with many expressing sadness over the condition of the animals.

Authorities immediately looked into the matter after learning about the incident. While the attack caused outrage among some members of the community, police said the owner of the goats has not filed a formal complaint.

Instead, local officials are expected to bring both parties together for a dialogue at the barangay level in an effort to settle the issue peacefully. The meeting will give the goat owner and the man involved an opportunity to discuss what happened and determine possible steps moving forward.

“Ang sinasabi nitong nanaga, ipinastol daw itong mga kambing sa taniman niya ng gulay. Kaya ayon, nagalit siya kaya niya nagawa iyong pananaga,” Talugtug Police Station investigator Pat. Jodel Pedres said.

Residents noted that while crop damage can be frustrating for farmers and gardeners, violence against animals should never be the solution.

The injured goats are expected to continue recovering from the wounds they sustained during the attack.
