6 Suspects Arrested for Alleged Plan to Rob Famous Vlogger’s Home
Six suspects from a criminal group were arrested after they were allegedly caught planning to rob the home of a popular vlogger in Caloocan City.
Authorities said the group used different schemes, including fake cake deliveries and rented vehicles, to carry out their crimes.
According to police reports, operatives from the Philippine National Police Highway Patrol Group had already been monitoring the suspects before the operation. Video footage showed officers waiting for the suspects’ vehicle to arrive in the area.
When the target vehicle appeared, the police immediately moved in to stop them.
The suspects reportedly tried to escape, which led to a chase through a narrow alley. The situation later turned violent after one of the suspects allegedly attempted to pull out a gun. Police opened fire, hitting the suspect in the leg.
Authorities later discovered that the injured man was a dismissed police officer. Among those arrested were the former policeman, a traffic enforcer, the alleged leader of the group, one woman, and two other male suspects.
Investigators believe the group was highly organized and had been involved in several crimes in different areas.
Police said the group’s common tactic involved pretending to deliver free cakes to homes. Once a resident opened the door, the suspects would reportedly force their way inside and take valuables from the house.
Authorities also linked the group to stolen motorcycles and rented vehicles used in crimes across Metro Manila, Central Luzon, and Calabarzon. They allegedly changed license plates and used fake conduction stickers before abandoning the vehicles afterward.
Recovered from the suspects were firearms, suspected illegal drugs, a grenade, duct tape, and zip ties believed to be used for restraining victims.
Police warned the public to stay alert, especially when receiving unexpected deliveries from strangers.
